Inspection of Gas Turbines Components
Although each OEM has different design and configurations, typically the nondestructive testing (NDT) requirements include the inspection of the following components:
- Rotors
- Stationary Blading
- Casings
- Hot gas path components
- Bearings
- Bolting
- Piping, manifolds, etc.
The inspections of these turbine components are performed during a major or minor outage. During a major outage, all or most of the gas turbine components will be inspected while during a minor outage the turbine is partially disassembled, and the inspection focuses only on the parts that are accessible or disassembled.
During a short stop or a minor outage there is an opportunity to perform a borescope inspection. For our borescope inspections we utilize high resolution videoscopes to visually detect indications and assess the condition of the rotor, stationary blading, and hot gas path components. Our borescopes have live-streaming video and recording capabilities. What is unique about it is that it offers an option for the site projects managers and engineers to visualize and tune-in during the inspection in real-time.
